Hey y'all... Nashville was a good time.
Every person we spoke to was super nice, helpful, and just generally friendly. I liked that about this city.
Music city u.s.a and we took advantage of that by listening to lots of live bands in the bars on Broadway. We watched a group of guys called The Springs. And you guys... if you like country music then you would like them. I have a feeling they are going to make it big time. I'm even facebook friends with a few of the members... haha!
One thing I didn't like about Nashville: The taxi's. They are expensive. I advice you rent a car while staying in this city or don't stay at the Opryland Resort (beautiful, big, lovely.. but 10 miles from town). OR become familiar with the the public transit like we did. 1.60 into town compared to $25+tip! I think so.
We visited the Parthenon which is near Vanderbilt University. Beautiful. Especially with the backdrop of the fresh snow.
We took a tour of the Grand ole Orpy. It was neat to see and I learned a lot about the history of the place. Plus saw the effects of the flooding that happened in 2010.
I would definitely go back to Nashville. A few things I would do differently are: stay downtown to avoid taxi fares, rent a car so i can venture further off the beaten path, check out more local restaurants (being a self proclaimed foodie.. i feel like i didn't get a good culinary experience but we were on limited time and budget), and i would go during the summer. (it was freezing!!).
I can't wait to do more traveling around the USA.

how fun! it's been years since i've been to nashville, but i grew up in chattanooga (about 2 hours away). we would go to the opry hotel every christmas when it was all decorated, and my dad met johnny cash at the grand ole opry when he was a young military man, so i have some warm feelings toward nashville. ...although i only like country music 1 day a year. :)
i'm glad you got to go explore! where will your next traveling adventures take you?
Thats so cool that he met Johnny Cash! Isn't the orpy hotel beautiful? I would have liked to explore the outside cities of Nashville. Was Chattanooga a good place to live?
My boyfriend and I are trying to plan a trip to Costa Rica for May. In the USA though... maybe Chicago?
My brother lives in Nashville so I get to go visit every year, I think it's great! There is a lot of (country!) culture and it's just a nice place to be. It looks like you did a lot!!! The main strip on Broadway and the Opryland Hotel are my fave place there.
